Happy Watercolor Pyramid – Weekly Deals

Here’s a card that we made at our stamping event in Bellevue last month.  It was part of our Happy Watercolor grouping.  I had the card with the others that I was prepping in a box on the floor and Bella decided that she liked the flower on the left hand side of the card so much that she ate it!

Flower Shop

I saw this sketch in a magazine as I was going through them to decide whether I wanted to recyle them or keep them.  I always start out by saying that they need to be recycled and after flipping through the pages, it’s, like – no, I need to keep this one … and this one, and this one etc.   I can’t remember which magazine it was now as I may have actually recycled it!  But I love the way I can use up some of the retiring designer papers for this sketch.  I will definitely miss this Modern Medley designer paper.

I cut 5/8″ strips of the designer paper and laid them across on a diagonal starting at the bottom right corner.  After all the strips are adhered, cut off the excess with the Paper Snips.   Using the SAMJ, position the sentiment from Lots of Thanks across the top edge of the DSP and stamp.  I used Real Red for the sentiment and also stamped a flower from Flower Shop on Very Vanilla paper and punched it out with the Pansy punch.  It’s adhered to the front of the card with a dimensional and a bit of Dazzling Details was added to the centre of the flower.

Flower Shop Modern Medley

The inside also has a strip of DSP.

I also used the Envelope Liners Framelit to cut the designer paper to make a matching envelope.

Work of Art

At the catalogue premiere held last month launching the new 2014-2015 Catalogue, we received this great new stamp set called Work of Art.

Work of Art Primary Colors

I used primary colors for the swooshes, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Midnight Muse.  They were stamped on watercolor paper and then spritzed with a combination of water and alcohol.  The alcohol brightened up the colors as they were a tad dull when I stamped them.  After the paper dried out, I added the sentiment from the photopolymer set Another Thank You.   A few Real Red candy dots were added to complete the card..

The card base is Midnight Muse with a layer of Daffodil Delight and the stamped focal image on watercolor paper.

Supplies:

  • Paper:  Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight, Watercolor
  • Ink:  Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Memento Black
  • Stamp Set:  Work of Art, Another Thank You
  • Accessories: Candy Dots, spritzer, SAMJ

Celebrating Mother’s Day at Adorabelle

Yesterday we celebrated Mother’s Day at Adorabelle, the cutest little tea room in Steveston.  It was the Steveston Court House long ago and a one room building.  It’s been converted to this quaint little tea room and it was the perfect spot to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The tables were set with individual tea pots and their while felt tea cosies and topped with these adorable Fascinators.

Adorabelle Teapot

Look at the sweet napkin nestled in the tea cup.

We put on the fascinators and were able to take them home with us.

After tea, we took a stroll through the shops in Steveston and it was bustling with activity as it was a gorgeous day out.

If you live in Metro Vancouver you have to try  ADORABELLE TEA ROOM.

Happy Mother’s Day

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

So happy I have the Blessed Easter single stamp from the Occasions Mini.  After separating the words from the flowers, you can use it for so many different occasions and I’ve used it here for today’s Mother’s Day card.

Blessed Easter Mother's Day

I first cut a piece of Whisper White card using the Apothecary Accent Framelit.  The flowers were stamped using the masking technique.   The flowers and leaves were colored with markers.  After coloring the flowers, heat and stick powder was applied and Dazzling Diamonds was sprinkled over the heat and stick powder and heat set with the heat tool.

The focal image is layered on a piece of Watercolor Wonder DSP over a mat of Whisper White.  The base card stock is Daffodil Delight.  I added a double bow made with Daffodil Delight seam binding that I made using the fantastic bow maker that my DH made.  And the trusty sentiments from Teeny Tiny Wishes was adhered to the card on dimensionals.

Supplies:

  • Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe card stock, Watercolor Wonder DSP
  • Stamp Sets:  Blessed Easter, Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • Ink:  Versamark, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Crisp Cantaloupe Markers
  • Accessories:  Apothecary Accent Framelit, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Daffodil Delight Seam Binding, Heat & Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds, Heat Tool

The Blessed Easter single stamp will be gone at the end of the month with the retirement of the Occasions Mini so if its a set you like, don’t hesitate and purchase it now.  You may order the stamp set at my online store  HERE.

Really Good Greetings

Today’s card shows the many options of combining various accessories that we carry.  In this card to achieve layered looks.  The focal image is first punched with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and the layered sentiment piece is cut with the Chalk Talk framelit.

Really Good Greetings - STTP and Chalk Talk Framelits

The card stock base is Basic Black with a layer of Crisp Cantaloupe and DSP from the SAB Sweet Sorbet.  I first cut the Black card stock 3 1/2″ x 2″ and punch both ends in the Scallop Tag Topper punch.  I used the large size framelit that most resembles the punched tag and cut out a piece of Whisper White.  The sentiment from Really Good Greetings is inked up with Crisp Cantaloupe and Black markers and stamped onto the Whisper White.  Adhere it to the front of the card with dimensionals and then add the Crisp Cantaloupe In Color Boutique Details with glue dots.

Supplies:

  • Paper:  Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White, Sweet Sorbet DSP
  • Stamp Set:  Really Good Greetings
  • Accessories:  Scallop Tag Topper Punch, Chalk Talk Framelits, In Color Boutique Details

Watercolor Wonder Lattice Die Gatefold

Going through the retired list of accessories, I will miss this lattice die.  The Watercolor Wonder DSP from the Occasions Mini will also be gone at the end of the month and it’s been one of my favourite designer papers.  So I thought I’d use both to make this gatefold card.  I saw some cards on Pinterest that used the lattice as “stained glass” and here is my version.

Watercolor Wonder GatefoldF

And here is the inside view.

Watercolor Wonder GatefoldO

No sentiment is added to the card at this time as I generally leave them blank so that I can add the sentiment when I need a birthday, thank you or just because card.  Love the softness of the Soft Sky card stock.   I used the designer paper to punch out the flowers using the Petite Petals Punch that is being carried over from the Occasions Mini to the new catalogue.

Supplies used:

  • Paper:  Soft Sky, Whisper White, Watercolor Wonder DSP
  • Accessories:  Lattice Bigz Die, Petite Petals Punch, Beautiful Butterflies Embosslit, Pearls, Circles Collection Framelits

If you don’t want to miss out on the Watercolor Wonder paper or the Lattice Die, be sure to order them by June 1 as they will be gone after that date.

Weekly Deals and Yummy Dumplings . . . and

Finally made it to Din Tai Fung at Lincoln Square in Bellevue, WA.  They are busy right from opening hour and unless you get there at that time, you’ve got a long wait.  We got in at the right time on Sunday and had a wonderful meal of dumplings and other delicious treats on their menu.  One of the more popular items is the Juicy Pork Dumplings. Din Tai Fung - Soupy WT I call them the soupy dumplings but they are properly called Juicy Pork Dumplings.  The server told us how to place them on our spoon, pinch it near the top with the chopsticks to release the soup captured in the wrapping and let the soup run onto the spoon.  You can then add fresh sliced ginger mixed with soya and vinegar to the spoon and enjoy the dumpling – YUM!  They were delicious as the rest of the dishes we had.  Now on to things other than food.
