Blessed Easter Gatefold Frame

The gatefold card is very versatile as there are so many variations of what you can do by adding different enclosure tabs to the front of the card.  Today’s card is the basic gatefold – Cut the card stock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and score at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″.

Blessed Easter Gatefold Frame

The main card stock is Very Vanilla.  The two side panels also Very Vanilla  are cut 1/4″ less than the two side folds all around.  I ran it through the Big Shot using the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.

Using the 3rd and 4th sizes (count from the centre) of the Label Collection Framelits,  place those framelits, nestled one inside the other on a piece of So Saffron and roll through the Big Shot.  This gives you the frame.  Stamp your image, from Blessed Easter, on Very Vanilla and then cut it out with the 3rd size of the framelit.  I used So Saffron and Wild Wasabi to color the flowers and leaves.

Apply adhesive on the left side of the frame, and adhesive on the right side of the stamped image and adhere to the front of the two panels.

The inside of the card has a piece of Very Vanilla, 3 3/4″ x 5″ layered onto a piece of So Saffron 4″ x 5 1/4″.

I had separated the words from the image so that the floral section of the stamp can be used for other occasions.  Great for sympathy cards, birthday, thank you cards – just add the sentiment of your choice on the inside of the card.

Supplies:

  • Card Stock:  Very Vanilla, So Saffron
  • Stamp Set:  Blessed Easter (single stamp)
  • Ink:  Black, So Saffron and Wild Wasabi Blender Pens
  • Accessories:  Label Collection Framelits, Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder

All of the supplies used to make this card can be purchased at my online store 24/7 RIGHT HERE.

Bunnies in a Box and Weekly Deals

There are so many beautiful card in the box samples on the net, I just had to try one and this is my first attempt.

Card in a Box Bunnysv

Easter is just a few days away and I thought that bunnies popping out of the card would be cute.  These cards fold up and fit into a regular envelope for mailing.

The primary card stock color is Crisp Cantaloupe with Sweet Sorbet DSP as accents.  I used Pistaschio, Pool Party, Cantaloupe and Starfruit card stock to run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots EF and then punched with the Large and Small Oval punches to make the eggs.  Small circle punches were added to the egg on the front and the others were decorated with the Needlepoint Border EF’s and ribbon.

The bunnies were made with the 1″, 1 1/4″ and 1/2″ circle punches, portions of the Bird Builder punch (for the ears) and Owl Builder punch (eyes, cheeks and nose).  I free handed the carrots and cut the carrot tops using the Fringe Scissors.

The sentiment is from the  Eggstra Spectacular stamp set.

Supplies:

  • Card Stock:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party, Pistachio Pudding, Wisteria Wonder
  • Stamp Set:  Eggstra Spectacular
  • Ink:  Pink Pirouette, Summer Starfruit Marker, Crisp Cantaloupe Marker
  • Accessories:  Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Needlepoint Embossing Folders, various ribbons, Fringe Scissors, Sponge Dauber, White Gel Pen
  • Punches:  1/2″ Circle, 1″ Circle, 1 1/4″ Circle, Owl Builder, Bird Builder

So Very Grateful

I just received this stamp set last week and I love the flowers in the set.  Here’s my first card using it.

So Very Grateful Trellis

The card base is Basic Black cut 10″ x 5″ and scored at 5″.  The Melon Mambo layer is cut 4.75″ x 4.75″ and the Whisper White is 4.5″ x 4.5″.

I stamped the smaller floral image in the top left corner using the SAMJ and then positioned in on the top right corner and added the colors with Blender Pens.

I also received the Chevron Border Punch last week and used it to make the trellis.  The grass is cut with the Fringe Scissors using Gumball Green card stock.

I stamped the image on Whisper White and cut out two of the larger flowers to layer onto the trellis.  The leaves are punched with the Bird Builder Punch.  And just in case I messed up on stamping the sentiment, I thought I would stamp it on a scrap of Whisper White and punch it out with the Decorative Label Punch and adhered popped it up with Dimensionals.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets:  So Very Grateful, Perfect Pennants
  • Card Stock:  Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Gumball Green, Whisper White
  • Ink:  Black, Melon Mambo
  • Accessories:  Blender Pens, Stamp a Ma Jig, Fringe Scissors
  • Punches:  Chevron Border, Decorative Label, Bird Builder

Black Tie

It’s that time of year when I co-ordinate a black tie dinner for about 60 – 80 people and while I was preparing for it, I played around with making some cards featuring “black tie”.  Here’s the one I made for a black tie tux.

Black Tie Banner

I used the Banner framelits for the card – don’t know why I did that but I thought it looked pretty cool.  Will have to try it in a traditional card size.

Here’s one for the ladies.

Black Tie Dress Glimmer Dots

I added some Silver Glimmer flowers on the folds of the doily, but somehow got carried away and kept punching out those glimmer flowers.

Hexagon Hive

I made this card quite sometime ago and thought I had posted it but apparently hadn’t so here it is.

Hexagon Hive Black Happy Watercolor

It uses the Sweet Sorbet DSP (SAB).  I love polka dots in all shapes, colors and sizes (particularly black and white).  I added the stamped hexagon shapes from the Six Sided Sampler set in Pistachio Pudding, Summer Starfruit and Crisp Cantaloupe and attached with glue dots.

Tip for easing the small shapes out after you run the thinlit through the Big Shot is to use a layer of wax paper between the card stock and die.  They’ll come out like a charm.

Supplies:

  • Card Stock:  Black, White
  • Stamp Set:  Six Sided Sampler
  • Accessories:  Sweet Sorbet DSP (SAB), Hexagon Punch, Glue Dots

Scallop Tag Topper Gatefold

Today’s card is a gatefold using the Scallop Tag Topper punch.

Petite Petals Scallop Gatefold

The card base is Pool Party cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  I inserted the 5 1/2″ side into the Scallop Tag Topper punch and pushed it all the way to the back, lining up the edge of the card to the edge of the punch and then punched.  Do the same on the other side.

Place the edges of the card stock in the Stampin’ Trimmer lining up the base of where the punch ends to the track in the trimmer and cut to remove both ends.  Repeat on the other side.

Score the card at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″ for a regular gatefold card.  The two side panels in Basic Black are cut 1″ x 5 1/4″ and the DSP from Sweet Sorbet (a FREE SAB product) is cut 3/4″ x 5″.

Stamp one of the images from Petite Petals with Black classic ink on Pool Party card stock and punch out with the co-ordinating Petite Petals punch.  Cut the leaves using the Bird Builder punch in Basic Black card stock.  Assemble the pieces on the two panels.  Add a pearl to the centre of the flower to finish the side panels.

Here’s the inside:

Petite Petals Scallop Gatefold Inside

Cut the Black card stock 4″ x 5 1/4″ and mat a layer of Whisper White cut 3 3/4″ x 5″ on it.  I added the same leaves and flower to it.  Thread Pool Party seam binding through the scallop tabs and tie a bow.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set:  Petite Petals (comes in a bundle with the punch – save 15% when you purchase the bundle)

A Curry Secret Garden

This card was made for my friend Kathleen with whom I spent a day last week as she gave me a lesson on how to make biscotti.  She made lemon/ginger ones and they are absolutely delicious.  I’ll have to attempt to make them myself soon.  They were so good I forgot to take a picture!

Secret Garden Curry

The card is based on a card that my friend Rhonda has shared with me.  The base card stock is Crushed Curry with a layer of Whisper White.  The flowers are stamped using the Secret Garden stamp set in Crushed Curry classic ink and cut out with the Secret Garden framelits.  The strips of DSP are from Eastern Elegance cut 3/4″ wide and about 3 1/2″ long.  I then cut the flags on the ends with Paper Snips.  Rhinestones added to the centre of each flower completed the card.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set:  Secret Garden #131940 Wood, #129144 Clear
  • Framelits:  Secret Garden #129372
  • Card Stock:  Crushed Curry, Whisper White
  • DSP:  Eastern Elegance #130131
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels #119246
