I felt I was Christmas carded-out having been working on Christmas projects for what seems like two months and after a while it becomes fatiguing. For some reason yesterday the urge to do more Christmas cards came upon me and among others, I made this card in two different color themes.
I'm finding the Season of Joy stamp set very versatile with so many images in the set you can create many different looks. From a very simple card that I made last week with this set, I took it one more step for these.
The first one was made with Handsome Hunter card stock. A color that I hadn't used this year for Christmas projects. The embossed piece is Very Vanilla cut 5 1/4" x 4" and run through the Big Shot using the Petals-A-Plenty embossing folder from the Holiday Mini.
The image from Seasons of Joy is stamped in Handsome Hunter ink on a piece of Very Vanilla cut 2 1/2" x 2 3/4" and matted onto a piece of Handsome Hunter cut 2 5/8" x 2 7/8". I used a piece of the Riding Hood Red and Very Vanilla striped grosgrain from last year and folded it under the stamped image. The Merry Christmas image is also from Season of Joy and stamped with Riding Hood Red onto Very Vanilla and punched out with the large oval punch and matted onto a Handsome Hunter Scallop Oval piece and placed on the card with dimensionals.
I was pleased with the way the card turned out and when I cast my eye over my ribbon storage and saw the Black and Vanilla striped grosgrain, I knew I had to make one using that ribbon and thus this card.
The base card stock is black with a layer of Brushed Gold cut 5 1/4" x 4" with the Very Vanilla piece cut 5" x 3 3/4". The image is stamped in black and while its difficult to see in the picture, I lightly touched up the flowers and the centre of the tree with some Champagne Shimmer paint. Rather than the red rhinestone brad in the middle of the word JOY, I placed a half pearl from the Pretties Kit in the centre.
Don't you find that when you're just "playing" with your stamping stuff that the end result turns out better than a preplanned one? At least I find that is how it works for me. Often I have an image of a design that I want to make but the result is a huge disappointment. I get so excited about making it and then its a dud but when you're just playing around the result could be very satisfying.
Well, we had a fairly large amount of snow that fell out our way last night but its raining now and washing it away so hopefully it will be all gone within a couple of days.
Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!
