Top Note Quilts

One of my favourite cards to make is the Top Note Die quilt.  I've posted several on my site (here is one) and could probably do more but I'm sure you'd like to see other projects – lol.

Thanks to Angie Anderson, who came up with a wonderful idea of using the Top Note quilts to display the DSP's  and here is my sample ring and how they were all put together.

Using the 1 1/4" square punch, punch out two squares from each of the 6 sheets in the Tall Tales DSP. Then place them in a pattern that you like – using both sides of each piece to show the 12 different patterns in the package of DSP.

Tall Tales Squares

Cut out a piece of Whisper White card stock 5" x 3 3/4".   I applied the Two Way Glue Stick all over the card stock and placed the squares on it.

Tall Tales Pre Cut

After smoothing them down, place the quilted piece on the Top Note die and run through the Big Shot and here is your Top Note quilt.

DSP Sample Ring

On the reverse of each quilt, I've printed labels with the name of the DSP, number and cost and co-ordinating colours.   While I was working on a project yesterday, it came in handy to refer to it for matching colours.  I just love it!

Medallion

It's raining today and what a welcome relief it is – after weeks of hot weather, we need the rain for the forests, lawns and just to freshen up everything.   I'm sure it won't be staying around too long but it provides a nice break.

When you first received the new catalogue, what stamp set was at the top of your list?  I think that I am not alone in making the Medallion set (page 133, #115223, $23.95) as my first choice.

Finally got a chance to play with it.

Medallion Saffron

I stamped the medallion on Whisper White (5" x 3.75") and then cut it in half lengthwise – so you can make two cards from the one piece.  The DSP is from the Lovely Flowers Bundle (Level 3 Hostess set) and one edge is punched using the Eyelet Border punch.   I did a bit of paper piercing at the top corners of the Whisper White card stock.  The front of the card is all tied together with a length of So Saffron grosgrain ribbon, half pearls from the Pretties Kit and a rub on from the Lovely Flowers Bundle.

On the inside of the card, I attached a piece of So Saffron with a strip of the DSP trimmed with the Eyelet Border punch so there is lots of space to write a message.

Cottage Wall

When I saw the Cottage Wall DSP, I knew it was one of the first that I had to have – you all know my weakness for these designer papers!  When I opened it up – I kept thinking that it reminded me of something very familiar.

Well, yes – here is the clematis that is blooming on the lattice in our backyard – isn't it gorgeous?  They're so beautiful when they're in bloom but they don't last for a long while.

And here is the card that I made using Cottage Wall.

I particularly loved the sketch that was featured a few weeks ago on Mojo Monday (nothing like being a few weeks late – lol) and thought it would be a good one to use for this card.   The base card stock is Orchid Opulence layered with a piece of Cottage Wall DSP . . . and I got to use the new Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder (page 195, #115964, $10.95). I ran it through the Big Shot on Whisper White and layered it onto the piece of Old Olive card stock.  The piece of Orchid Opulence is layered with another design from Cottage Wall.

I finished the card with a strip of scallop edged Old Olive tied with Whisper White Organza ribbon and then added the sentiment from Oval All.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!  I'm so enjoying these milder temperatures!

Lovely Flowers

Ohmigosh!  I knew I was AWOL from blogging but I didn't realize that its been close to three weeks since my last post!   Well, excuses, excuses right –  but honestly, I really can't take the heat.   We were into a heat wave here in Metro Vancouver which lasted for days and days and it was uncomfortable to do anything – couple that with my sister and brother-in-law staying for a couple of days plus other unexpected matters to deal with – the time just flew by.

But the weather has cooled down considerably and I'm enjoying it so back into the stamp room.

I made this little chest of drawers using the Lovely Flowers DSP and Melon Mambo card stock.

Lovely Flowers Chest Pearls

Lovely Flowers Chest Side

I used the backing you get from the DSP packaging and covered it on both sides with the Lovely Flowers DSP using a glue stick as the adhesive.  I cut two of them and then ran them through the Big Shot using the ever versatile Top Note die.

The four chest of drawers were cut with Melon Mambo card stock using the Match Box die.  For the pulls on the drawers, I punched out 1/2" circle from the DSP and applied them to the Build a Brads.

On the top of the drawers, the sentiment is from the Lovely Flowers Bundle stamped on Melon Mambo and layered onto a So Saffron Scallop circle.

Here is a top note card made using the same Lovely Flowers DSP.  I used one of the labels cut from the Matchbox die for the sentiment from Matchbox Messages.

Lovely Flowers Top Note Card

And one more card – just very quick and simple using Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo card stock (my two favs) and a topping of the Lovely Flowers DSP.  The ribbon is the Melon Mambo 1/2" Polka Dot grosgrain ribbon.  I just turned over for the plain side of the ribbon.

Lovely Flowers Card
