Bev's Tri-Shutter Card

Those Tri-Shutter cards are so addicting and particularly beautiful when made with the Cottage Wall DSP.   Bev Victory, a demo from Bellaire, Texas, got in touch with me about these cards after visiting my blog and she sent me this photo of her lovely card using Cottgage Wall.  It is so gorgeous that I had to share it with you too!  Bev also has another Tri-Shutter she made using the Tea Party DSP that you can see here.

All in the Family, RAK and a Pawda Purse

What a fun day I had on Wednesday when my daughters, Alannah and Jen, and my granddaughters, Paige and Danielle and I spent a day of stamping together.   As we gathered in my craft room it was almost like Christmas morning while we went through all the goodies that I recently received and tried out a number of different new stamp sets, punches and dies.

Jen and I worked on a new technique, Alannah wanted to play with some Big Shot samples and when I brought out the Build a Bear dies, Dani wanted to play with those and Paige made a card using Baroque Motifs from a sample I had on hand.   It was humming in the craft room while we all worked away at our own projects and had great fun.

Alannah and Jen cut out a lot of samples on the Big Shots so that they can work on projects at their homes.

Here are the cards that Dani made with the Stampin' Up! Bear and Beary Essentials Bigz Dies and Beary Girl Sizzlit Die - all available on September 1!

  

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

Last weekend, the Mueller family, Lynn, Alannah, Paige and Danielle, worked a concession for a softball tournament held in their community of Richmond, BC.   They are very community minded and are always involved in activities within their community.  I am so proud to see them recognized for their involvement in this softball tournament.  This article entitled Random Acts of Kindess appeared in the Ashton Service Group newsletter.  Well done, Lynn, Alannah, Paige and Dani!

BELLA'S PAWDA PURSE

Whenever Jen comes to visit from her home in Bellevue, WA, she generally brings a toy for Bella and this time this time Bella got her very own PAWDA Purse.   .  I couldn't resist sharing that with you

I am blessed with such a wonderful family and although DH and Colin were not mentioned today, they also contribute tremendously to all our fun times.

Look Here!

As I mentioned yesterday, I'm getting into my treasure trove of goodies and I played with the Look Here pop up die on the weekend.   You also get a sneak peek of the Delightful Decorations and Four the Holidays stamp sets and Ornament Punch that will be in the Holiday Mini that's coming very soon!

This is the card.

 

 

Open it up and there's the pop up to hold a gift card!   I opted to make a small gift enclosure card to put in the holder area but it is designed to hold the regular size gift cards, or a personalized item that you may choose to use in the pop up area.

How its made:

1.    Real Red card stock is cut to regular A2 size - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".

2.    On the front of the card, layer Whisper White card stock (4" x 5 1/4") and Holiday Lounge DSP (3 3/4" x  5").

3.    Stamp two of the images from Delightful Decorations in Real Red Classic Ink on Whisper White card stock and punch out using Ornament Punch.

4.    Make two bows using Silver Elastic Cord (yes, its back!) and attach to the top of the "ornaments" with glue dots.  Adhere ornaments to the front of the card with Dimensionals.

5.    Complete the front with a length of 3/4" Real Red Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (love it!) and tie a faux bow.

6.    Cut a piece of Sahara Sand card stock 6" x 11" and place on Look Here Bigz XL die using the Extended Cutting Pads for the sandwich and run through the Big Shot.

7.    Cut a piece of DSP from Holiday Lounge 4 1/2" x 5" and place behind top of pop up (that's the red and white diamond pattern).

8.    Cut a piece of the same pattern DSP from Holiday Loung 6" x 6" and place over the section of the die with the arrows.  I then adhered the reverse pattern on the top arrows.  On the bottom arrow, I used the same background pattern (red and white diamonds).

9.    Score and fold the pop up where marked and adhere to the inside of the card with strong adhesive.

10.    For the insert, cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3 1/4" x 5" and fold in half.  Cut a layering piece of DSP for the top of the card.  Stamp the snowflake image from Delightful Decorations in Real Red Classic Ink on Whisper White card stock three times and punch with the 1" Circle Punch and adhere to front of insert with Dimensionals.

11.    Stamp sentiment from Four the Holidays at the bottom of the card in Real Red Classic Ink.

Mojo Monday Cottage Wall

I actually did today's Mojo Monday today and not a week later - lol.  I'm just getting into sampling my goodies from the catalogue, and wanted to use the Flower Fantasy Printed Window Sheets that pairs with the Cottage Wall DSP to make a card using today's sketch.

Here is what I came up with.

I used the Circle Scissors to cut both the DSP and Flower Fantasy Window Sheet at 3".  Was it tricky using the Circle Scissors with the Window Sheet - absolutely - lol!  But it was fun and I like the final result.

The Flower Fantasy Window sheets (p. 169, #115705, $10.50) are 12" x 12" and come with two sheets in the package.    If you used the Clearly Thanks Window Sheets introduced in the last catalogue, you'll want to try this package as it makes beautiful projects with the Cottage Wall DSP.

Another new set of Printed Window Sheets are the Seasonal Pieces (p. 169, #115706, $10.50) also in 12" x 12" size.  The co-ordinating colors to use with the Season Pieces are White, Vanilla and Chocolate Chip.

Holly Meets Decor Elements

Ulla recently moved into her new townhome and she's dedicated her loft to her stamping place!   Don't we all covet our own special stamping spot.  She purchased the Thoughts and Prayers Tree in chocolate and added the Direction of your Dreams in chocolate and put them up in her craft room. 

They both look fantastic!

Soft Suede

OMG - that was the answer to one of the questions on Who Wants to be a Millionaire the other evening - the question was related to in today's texting, what would be the equivalent to EGAD that was popular years ago.  The answer was OMG and OMG is all I can say about this beautiful color and the new Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder (page 105, #115964, $10.95).  

I made a very simple card using this gorgeous color and the embossing folder.

Putting it together:

1. Cut out a piece of Whisper White card stock (5 1/2" x 4 1/2") and place in the embossing folder and rUn it through the Big Shot.

2.  Place the embossed Whisper White on to the Top Note Die and rUn it through the Big Shot.

3.  Cut out small pieces of card stock (1 3/4" x 1 3/4")  in Soft Suede and Whisper White and place over the smallest daisy on the Daisies #2 die and rUn it through the Big Shot - I cut two on Soft Suede and one on Whisper White.

3.  Alternate the three daisies, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Soft Suede and place the 5/8" Whisper White Brad through the centre and through the top note die cut piece and secure at the back.

4.  Cut 5 1/4" of Soft Suede Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon to wrap the front of the top note die.  Cut an additional 4 1/2" of ribbon and thread under the other piece and tie a bow.

5.  Stamp sentiment from Short and Sweet on a piece of scrap Whisper White in Soft Suede and punch out with Word Window Punch and adhere to ribbon using dimensionals.

6.  Place the completed top note piece onto your 4 1/4" x 11" Soft Suede card stock which has been scored at 5 1/2".

7.  You're done!

Fancy Favor

This Bigz die makes the cutest little favor boxes - see the samples on page 2 of the catalogue.  I made these two boxes the other day and decided to leave one open and close the top of the other.

The yellow box is made with the Pink Flamingo DSP.  There are crease folds on the sides but as I decided to add the handles, did not use the creases and left the box with a square fold.  I attached a strip of Summer Sun card stock and layered a strip of Whisper White punch on both sides with the Eyelet Border punch.   My Summer Sun cordouroy buttons hadn't arrived so I used a couple of Build a Brads to fasten the handle to the box.  The sentiment is from the retired Best Yet set.

The red box is also from the Pink Flamingo DSP.  After running the DSP through the Big Shot, the crease marks on the side made it easy to fold and pinch the opening together so that the white taffeta ribbon could be threaded through to close it up.

Spring Card

We also made this card at the Fancy Folds class using another of my favourite In Colors - Melon Mambo.

Card Stock:  Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP

Accessories:  Word Window and Modern Label Punches, Dimensionals, Bone Folder

Tri Shutter Cottage Wall

At my Saturday Fancy Folds class, this is one of the cards that we made using the beautiful Cottage Wall DSP (I need to get more of it!).  The colors in this series of DSP of Old Olive, Orchid Opulence and Rich Razzleberry are so vibrant that the combination just pops.

Supplies used:

Stamp Set:  Oval All

Card Stock:  Rich Razzleberry 12x12 Textured DSP, Old Olive, Whisper White

Accessories:  Big Shot, Beautiful Butterflies Die, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Trio Flower Punch, Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Glue Dots, In Color Markers, Dimensionals, Dew Drops

Tall Tales

I received a photo of this card that Jen had made for a swap that she recently participated in using the Animal Crackers stamp set and Tall Tales DSP.   She used Crushed Curry for the top of the card, elephant stamped in Soft Suede and wrapped with the Soft Suede Polka Dot grosgrain ribbon.  I love the colors!

 Here is the card opened with it hinging on the left.  I must have resized the picture twice because its so small - lol.
