Razzleberry Circle Circus

Rich Razzleberry is giving Melon Mambo a bit of a challenge as to which of these new In Colors is my favourite.  Each time I stamped an impression from Circle Circus with the Rich Razzleberry I ooohed and aaahed as the color is so rich and vibrant - its absolutely gorgeous!!

This was the other card we made at our stamp club yesterday.

Adding the Crushed Curry provided a bit of pop to the card. 

How we did it:   Stamp the two images from Circle Circus (p. 129, #115778, $38.95) using the Rich Razzleberry classic stamp pad on Whisper White and punch out with the 1 1/4" Circle punch.  Punch out three Rich Razzleberry pieces using the 1 3/8" Circle punch and layer them.

Cut a Whisper White layer, 5" x 3 1/2" and a Crushed Curry layer, 5 1/8" x 3 3/8" and then use the Corner Rounder punch on all four corners of these two layers then put these two layers together.

Position your punched Rich Razzleberry circles near the top of the layers.  Cut 5 3/4" of the Rich Razzleberry 1/2" Polka Dot grosgrain ribbon and add a large yellow rhinestone from the Circle Fire collection (p. 179, #109110, $15.95) to the ribbon and poke a hole through the card stock and place ribbon between the two prongs and attach to the layers.

Place these layers onto the Rich Razzleberry card stock with dimensionals (optional).

Stamp sentiment from A Little Birthday Cheer (p. 138, #115018, $18.95) to a piece of Whisper White and punch out with the Modern Label punch (p. 186, #116630, $22.95) and gently sponge a bit of Rich Razzleberry around the edges.  Adhere to the front of the card with dimensionals.

Trim the bottom corners of the RR card stock with the Corner Rounder punch.  You're finished!

Glitter Butterfly

Today at our club session, one of the projects we made was this card using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die (p. 198, #114507, $29.95), Sticky Pages (p. 180, #114300, $9.25) and Fine Cosmo Glitter (p. 180, #108796, $19.95).

The card stock base is Lavender Lace, layered with Almost Amethyst.  The Whisper White layer was stamped with the Bella Toile (p. 134, #111598, $23.95)  background stamp using Almost Amethyst Classic ink.

A length of white taffeta ribbon is tied around the two layers and topped with a Lavender Lace Scallop Circle.

After cutting the smallest butterfly on the die with a piece of 2" x 2 1/2" Sticky Page with the Big Shot, remove the orange protective piece from the butterfly and apply the glitter.  Carefully remove the back portion of the adhesive from the butterfly and place on the scallop circle.  Apply a small half pearl from the Pretties Kit to the centre of the butterfly.  Place the scallop circle with the glittered butterfly on the card with dimensionals.  The tips of the wings are adhered to the card.

Complete the card with the thank you sentiment from Short & Sweet stamped in Almost Amethyst and punch out with Word Window punch.  Cut out a Lavender Lace piece with the new Modern Label punch (p. 187, #116631, $22.95) and adhere the sentiment on top of it.  Affix the stamped sentiment to the front of the card with dimensionals.

It was fun making the card and oh yes, there was glitter all over by the time we finished the card - lol.

Mojo Monday

Nothing like being late for this weeks' Mojo Monday, eh?  I thought for sure that my computer had crashed as I just couldn't get access to the internet or my documents and particularly the program that I use to edit my photos although I was able to receive email.  After spending most of yesterday afternoon and evening starting and restarting my system to no avail, I thought I'd just let it rest for the evening and saved the rest of my hair pulling - lol.

I downloaded the Picassa software this morning and was able to work with my photos and success!   Here's what I made using the Mojo Monday Sketch 94.

Circle Circus

I just love the Hostess Level 1 Love Bug set but as I don't have it . . . yet,   I wanted to make a card of the adorable little caterpillar so I went through my new sets and thought that Circle Circus would be a good substitute.  This is how it turned out.

 Supplies:

Card Stock:  Bashful Blue, Whisper White

Stamp Sets:  Circle Circus, Nursery Necessities, Short & Sweet

Ink:  Bashful Blue, Black Marker, Bashful Blue Marker

Accessories:  1/2", 1/4" Circle, Star, Large Star and Modern Label (NEW!) punches, Soft Subtles Brads, Dimensionals, 1" Bashful Blue Double Stitched Grosgrain ribbon, SAB DSP, Mat Pack, Piercer.

Putting it Together:

The main card stock is Bashful Blue - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".

Cut Whisper White layer - 5 1/4" x 4", cut DSP 5 1/4" x 2" and place at top of Whisper White piece.

Cut ribbon 6" and wrap around join of DSP and Whisper White and attach at the back with SNAIL.

Stamp assorted Circle Circus images on Whisper White with Bashful Blue classic ink and punch out 6 1/2" circles and one 1/4" circle.  Punch one 1/2" circle from Whisper White.

Arrange circles to form a caterpillar - draw in face, antennas and legs using Black Marker.  Outline the caterpillar with Bashful Blue marker.  Using a q-tip grab a bit of Bashful Blue ink and gently run over face of caterpillar.

Stamp "little cutie" from Nursery Necessities below caterpillar with Bashful Blue ink.

Stamp "welcome baby" from Short & Sweet in Bashful Blue on Whisper White and punch out with the new Modern Label punch - add brads on ends and adhere to ribbon with dimensionals.

Punch out one each Bashful Blue and Whisper White stars with Star punch - punch small star on a piece of Whisper White and then position Large Star over the punched out piece and punch out to create the large white star - adhere these to front of card with dimensionals.

Add completed layer to Bashful Blue card front with dimensionals.

Desk Organizer

Bella Bleu is a DSP carried over from the previous catalogue and was one of the very first that I bought last year because I love the subtle shades of blue and beige.

Probably the reason for the purchase was that it used Night of Navy and I needed to use this color which languished in my card stock tray for years because I couldn't get it to work with anything.  But in the past year, there have been other DSP's that have worked well with it and it is now one of my favorite colors.  Now, if SU would come out with something that I can use Glorious Green with, I'd be ecstatic!

I started out making this desk organizer using Night of Navy and Bella Bleu and, keeping it all in the Bella family, I stamped the flower from Bella's Bloom for the oval piece and added it to the top of the organizer with dimensionals.

Thanks to Krista Visser-Driessen for the measurements of this organizer that holds 4" x 4" cards or note cards.

I then made these note cards to fit into the organizer.   I needed an envelope to put the note cards in and  a crimped envelope would work perfectly with the note cards.  I just love making these!

Starting with a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I sealed the flap and inked up the Bella Toile background stamp with Night of Navy and stamped both sides of the envelope.   I cut off 1 1/2" of the envelope from the end of the envelope (as if you were addressing the envelope - cut 1 1/2" from the side).  I then inserted the bottom part of the envelope into the crimper and rolled it through.

I added a Night of Navy card stock belly band around the top of the envelope and wrapped 5/8" Very Vanilla Grosgrain ribbon over that and tied a bow.

The Just for You sentiment is from Oval All stamped in Very Vanilla and punched out with the large oval punch and layered onto a Night of Navy oval scallop piece and placed on the envelope with dimensionals.

This is the final set with one desk organizer, four note cards and four envelopes.

Cute Candy Box

I'm discovering the versatility of the many Sizzix dies that SU carries - while there are box dies, bag dies, envelope dies, there are so many other ideas that come about from one die.

This is an example using the Box #2 Bigz XL die (page 201, #114518, $47.95).  The die cuts a little rectangle box that is very easy to put together but if you cut two of them and attach them to each other on the back side, you get this adorable little double sided box container.

 It is just the cutest thing!  You can fill it with all kinds of different items - candy, packages of nuts, chocolates or any small gift item - making a nice gift holder.  I filled this one with some Salt Water Taffy - yum!  DH and I finished the extras that I bought.

Can you tell that Melon Mambo is my favourite new In Color?  Here is what you need to make this project.

Supplies:

Stamp Set:  Matchbox Messages

Card stock:  Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP

Ink:  Black, Melon Mambo

Accessories:  Big Shot, Box #2 Bigz XL die, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle punches, Scallop Circle Punch, Wide Oval Punch, Mat Pack, Paper Piercer and Melon Mambo P1/2" Polka Dot grosgrain ribbon, Sticky Strip, SNAIL

Putting it Together:

Cut two Box 2 dies with the Melon Mambo card stock.

Assemble each box, leaving the "lid" section straight up. 

Apply Sticky Strip to the back of one of the boxes. 

Using the Wide Oval punch, punch out near the top to make the handle.   Remove Sticky Strip and butt the back of the second box to the back of the one with the Sticky Strip and use the first oval cut out as a guide to cut out the other.

Cut two pieces of Razzleberry Lemonade DSP  3 1/2" x 1 3/4" and two at 2 1/2" x 1 3/4" and affix with SNAIL to the box.  Ink up the stamp with the Basic Black Marker for the sentiment and the Melon Mambo Marker for the flower and double circle outline.  

Punch out with 1 1/4" Circle punch.  Punch a 1/3" circle of Crushed Curry and a Scallop Circle from Melon Mambo card stock.  Layer circle pieces together.  Use paper piercer and mat pak to pierce in each scallop.  Affix to box with dimensionals.

Cut a length of ribbon and make a bow at the handle.
