Matchbox Die

When I went into my craft room this morning and took a quick look it was ai-ya!  What a mess –  I just had to put away some of my new toys and get the room more organized.  Not sure that it looks any better but at least I have things put away that were strewn all over the tables and I certainly felt better.

Guess what I found in the clean up?  These little matchbox samples that I had made a couple of weeks ago!   I realized that I hadn't shared them with you so here they are.

I made these using the Sweet Always DSP.  I wrapped them with Whisper White card stock that I had scalloped one side with the Scallop Edge punch and then added the Pumpkin Pie 1/2" Striped Grosgrain and attached Pumpkin Pie Flower Assortment Brads – they are so cute and come in 4 colours, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip (page 175, #112583, $8.75).

I also made some using Bella Bleu DSP.

I just love Not Quite Navy card stock with this DSP - it looks so rich.  On the front of the boxes I used the Filigree Designer Brads (page 175, #112577, $6.95) and added a Square Ice small turquoise brad (page 174, #109113, $13.75) in the centre of the brad.  And don't you just love that beautiful Baja Breeze satin ribbon that comes in the Valet Ribbon Originals (page 178, #114318, $17.50) – its an absolutely gorgeous colour!

Another Top Hinge Card

I received these cards from Jen after she read my posting of the top hinge card.  One of the sets that I haven't used for a long while is the Pun Fun set and seeing her card suggests that I should make a few with the sweet stamps.  I particularly like the use of the Urban Garden DSP with this card.   Cute, eh?

She used Urban Garden DSP on this card too and I love the colour combination.

Its been a long day in the craft room as I've been putting together little welcome packages for our retreat in two weeks at Whistler.  I wanted to play with the pop up die I received in my order yesterday, but that will probably have to wait until next week.

The second game in the Stanley Cup series between the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks is on right now and the Canucks were leading when I went to watch the game and while I watched, Chicago tied the game and then took the lead – I think I'm jinxing them so I've decided to come up and work on the computer.  But it is the third period so I need to go back to see what's happening – lol.

Watercolour Roses

At the Saturday session of the Seattle Regionals, one of the wow demonstrations was presented by Connie Ingram.   As I attended the session on Friday, I did not see it but Sandi MacIver and Patty Bennett shared it with us and it is certainly a WOW!

Here's my version of the watercolouring technique.

Watercolour Fifth Avenue

Stamp the image with White Craft Ink on shimmery white paper and then emboss using clear Embossing Powder.   Take about 3 colours of matching ink from your reinkers and squeeze a drop of ech onto a dish or plastic plate.  I then placed my flower into one of the plastic lids that I got with one of my Sizzix sets and using a small water bottle with a spray top spritzed the flower with water creating pools of water. Don't be afraid to spray on the water – it really needs to be pooled water as I found out when I first tried the technique.  Take your aqua painter and pick up one of the colours of the reinkers and just release it into one of the pools of water and it will just spread over the image.  You can add the other colours anywhere on the flower.  You can then tilt the card so that the water runs down to let it dry.  It takes about half an hour to dry and then you cut it out.

For my card I used Yoyo Yellow, Pretty in Pink, Lovely Lilac and Lavender Lace on the small flowers and on the rose I used Pretty in Pink, Cameo Coral, Regal Rose and Rose Red.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!  It's a beautiful day to be out in that gorgeous sunshine – but I want to stamp – lol!
