Vellum

Don't you love using the vellum card stock?  While SU carries two weights in vellum, I find that the vellum card stock is great for printing invitations etc.  Most printing places will not take jobs using vellum because of the heat that is generated when running them through and may melt the paper but with the extra thickness of the vellum card stock, they will work with it and you can also run it through either a laser or ink jet printer.

When I worked at a firm I would co-ordinate an annual black tie dinner and even though I have not been with the firm for the past 11 years, I have been fortunate to be asked to co-ordinate the dinner each year.  Working on an annual event really makes the creative juices work overtime.

The dinner took place at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and the weather was perfect!  The sun was out, although it was a bit windy, but from the rear deck of the Club you looked across the the water to West Vancouver and as you scanned the panoramic view to the right you could see the highrises and business district of Vancouver.  There were sailboats and tanker ships that dotted the calm waters and this is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world to live.

Back inside, each place setting was being prepped with each guest receiving their own menu card personalized to accommodate the dietary restrictions some guests may have, calligraphied place card and a dinner favour.  Its challenging to create a favour that is gender neutral for a corporate event.  This is where stamping has been beneficial as I've had some inspiration from the various boxes and techniques to come up with some super (at least I think they're super – lol – ideas).

The menus were printed on vellum cardstock.  I put their logo on as a watermark and after they were printed, I used the corner rounder punch on the corners to soften the appearance of the menu.  The menus were set up landscape style on the card stock and then sliced in the middle to create two menus.

The favours were their logoed chocolates placed in a vellum diaper fold container.  I also rounded the corners of the two points with the corner rounder punch – those vellum corners are pretty sharp!  I printed off their logo in one of their corporate colours and punched it out using the 3/4" circle punch and then punched a 1" Elegant Eggplant circle and placed the logo on the Eggplant circle.
