Movers & Shapers

What a neat Sizzix die this Movers and Shapers Curly Label one is (page 195, #114506, $47.95).  It was fun just running pieces of card stock through the Big Shot moving the little magnetic piece to different locations – lol.

I don't often use textured card stock and don't know why because it adds more dimension to a card so I have to put it on my next order and use it more often.  I had one sheet of So Saffron textured card stock and it works well with Good Morning Sunshine DSP (page 160, #113966, $11.75) and this is the result.

Movers & Shakers

After running the card stock through the Big Shot on this die, it came out scored and with the curly label punch all cut out in the card stock.  On the strip of Good Morning Sunshine and a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock I used the Curly Label Punch to punch out the shape to line up with the one made with the die.   Although it's difficult to see, the top and bottom of Chocolate Chip strip has been paper pierced using the Mat Pack and piercer.  The sentiment is from Heard from the Heart (page 138, #111644, $26.95).

On the inside of the card, I placed a strip of Whisper White card stock to stamp the flower from the Polka Dot Punches Sale-A-Bration set (page 4 of the SAB catalogue).  The flower was coloured with Chocolate Chip and So Saffron markers.  In the centre of the flower, I placed a small So Saffron button from the  Latte Designer Buttons (page 176, #114333, $9.50) with a mini glue dot.

This was a fun card to make – you'll have to try it!

Big Shot – Embosslits 2

Do you find that some of the "impromptu" cards you make turn out better than the ones you spend hours picking out the colour theme and layout?  I often have an image in my mind and it is so beautiful that when I finish making it – its not at all like I made it in my mind.   I'm so disappointed.  My mind paints a much more beautiful picture than my hands can create – lol.  Perhaps there are no expectations when you put a card together quickly and the end result is more satisfying.

This was one of the cards that I put together very quickly and I was very pleased with the way it turned out.  Of course it helps when you have some super accessories to work with, like the emblossits and this Flower Burst (page 202, #114515, $13.95) came in my order last week.

Flower Burst Embosslitfv

I chose Riding Hood Red for the main cardstock and layered it with Riding Hood Red DSP.  I cut out the Top Note using the Big Shot in Whisper White.  With the Riding Hood Red DSP there is a sheet that is a solid colour that I used for the Flower Bursts.

I made three of the Flower Burst embosslits with the Big Shot on the RHR DSP and using the Sanding Blocks (page 189, #103301, $4.50) I lightly sanded over the embossed petals.  This is where DSP works best for sanding as it has a white core, whereas SU's 80 pound cardstock (the best cardstock ever!) is dyed with colour all the way through.  Doesn't it give it a super effect?  I absolutely love it!  I also used the Birds & Blooms leaf and Little Leaves sizzlits on Kiwi Kiss cardstock.  I placed a length of Riding Hood Red ribbon from the Ribbons Originals Dress Up package under the Top Note Die.  Using my Stamp-a-ma-jig (page 189, #101049, $14.95) I stamped the sentiment from the Thank You Kindly stamp set (page 133, #111700, $16.50) in Riding Hood Red classic ink.
