While I was making my first project using this sweet set – Just Buzzin' By – and looking at the faces on the little bees made me think of doing a spinner card with honey bees swarming around the beehive. I didn't get a chance to work on it right away but I was so anxious about putting it together, I made a beeline (pardon the pun) to my craft room right after breakfast yesterday morning to come up with this.
The So Saffron cardstock is cut 9" x 4.5" to make a square card. The overlaying Black cardstock is 4.25" x 4.25".
I then cut out the centre portion using Coluzzle and on that I attached the beehive that is stamped and cut out on Whisper White. The hive is accented with So Saffron marker and the base coloured with Sahara Sand. I stamped another bee image and cut out the little face to be peeking out of the hive. This circle piece is attached to the card with dimensionals.
I inked up the flower portion of the flower stem image in the set with White Craft ink and stamped them on the four corners. When they were dry, I used a dark yellow Watercolour Pencil to colour over them. This piece is then attached to the card base with dimensionals on four corners and smaller pieces on the centre edges.
For the spinning bee, it was stamped on Whisper White and punched out with the 1.25" Circle Punch and matted onto a 1 3/8" So Saffron circle. So Saffron, Blush Blossom and Going Grey markers were used on the little bee with a bit of Dazzling Diamonds on the wings.
This portion is mounted on two pennies – the "sandwich" is a penny, dimensional, penny, dimensional and the punched bee image. It fits in between the two circles and spins around the hive.
Have you added this set to your Wish List for the new catalogue?
