Yesterday was a very busy day as I had a Christmas Card class in the afternoon and also prepared for a birthday dinner for my son, Colin, whose birthday is today.
Colin was invited by our friends, Susan and Tom, to go to a a play at the Centennial Theatre in North Vancouver called The Number 14 - a bus route that travels Hastings Street in Vancouver. There are six actors in the play that transform into sixty characters. Colin is special needs and enjoys travelling by public transit so this was the perfect show for him to see and he enjoyed it very much. This is the card I made for his birthday.
I've had this package of Haiku DSP sitting on my shelf waiting for a project. It looked like the appropriate colours to go with the Crab and Company stamp set so off came the wrapping. I used Really Rust as the card base and layered it with a piece from Haiku. The middle strips are So Saffron and the reverse side of the larger piece of Haiku. I stamped the crab on Very Vanilla and used Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, Old Olive, So Saffron, Bordering Blue and Creamy Caramel markers to colour in the mage. Don't really know why I made his eyes blue - lol. The sentiment was stamped on Very Vanilla and sponged with Really Rust around the edges and punched out using the large oval punch and layered onto a piece of Pumpkin Pie punched out with the wide oval punch.
Happy Birthday, Colin!
While Colin, Susan and Tom were at the play, I had my class with Susan, Theresa and Kathleen. It was great to catch up with Susan who became a new mom six weeks ago, and Theresa who was very busy during the summer planning her daughter's wedding. Kathleen was on vacation when I had the SAS last month so I was happy that she was able to come to this class.
We made the four cards that have been previously posted here - Snow Swirled Pink Pirouette, Christmas Cardinal, Deer Friends and the Baja Breeze Gift card. I added this card as the fifth card for the class.
Not having using any of the Punch Pals stamps this year, it was a good time to bring it out and use the snowman from it. The card base is Baja Breeze, with a strip of Old Olive grosgrain and the piece from Ski Slope DSP - gosh, I love this paper. I think that've ordered 3 sets of it already! The snowman was stamped on Whisper White and layered on Baja Breeze and Real Red. Real Red, Old Olive and Only Orange markers completed his look and the Ticket Corner punch clipped the corners. The top of the card was stamped with a snow flake from the Snow Flurries set in Baja Breeze.
We finished stamping about 3:30 which gave me time to finish preparing for dinner and Alannah, Lynn, Paige and Danielle soon arrived with Colin, Susan and Tom following shortly after. The day that started at 4:30 a.m (more about that in another post) ended at 9:00 p.m. and I was ready for bed!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!
