Yesterday my son, Colin, and I met my daughter, Jen, who is celebrating her birthday today, in Marysville, WA. She drove up from her home in Bellevue to Marysville, and we drove down from Surrey. Marysville is about half way for both of us. We went for lunch at the Cedars Cafe in the new Tulalip Hotel and had a good time catching up on all things stamping. She has a great SU demo, Deborah Anderson, in Bellevue and recently attended a stamp camp with Deborah. She showed me the things she made at the camp and I took down some projects that I had been making with the Big Shot to show her.
I made this card for Jen for her birthday. I was shopping for a Pandora bead for her bracelet and on her wish list was the cupcake charm. After I bought the charm and came home to make a card, lo and behold the Crazy for Cupcakes set was sitting on my shelf! What a perfect match! It was in a stack of three sets that I've recently purchased and hadn't had a chance to put together. Do you do that too?
I went through my stash of DSP and was trying to make up my mind between the Parisian Summer (yummy lemon) or Bella Rose (always love chocolate) and decided to use Bella Rose for the card. I'll have to make another using the Parisian Summer DSP later. I used Chocolate Chip as my base and chose the gingham pattern for the awning for the storefront look. I cut the scallop on the strip of DSP with the Scallop Edge Punch and then cut a shorter piece of Pink Pirouette and a scallop edge on one side too. I layered them with a bit of the PP showing. The top of the awning is folded over the darker shade of cardstock and dimensionals were place under the awning to make it stand out.
The "chocolate" cupcakes were coloured in with the Chocolate Chip marker and the frosting on the cupcakes was made with the Pretty in Pink marker and Real Red was used for the cherries topping the cupcakes. The cupcake stand was coloured in with the Blush Blossom marker. A length of pink taffeta ribbon completed the card.
This is the cupcake charm for Jen's bracelet. If you have one of these Pandora braclets, do you find it as addicting as stamping? I sure do!

I'm not into LV yet - lol. Please make a cupcake card and post on your blog. Would love to see it. I'll probably be doing one of these at a function in December.
