There was plenty of excitement here on Friday when I received my box of new goodies coming out soon (August 11) in the Fall Winter 2008 IDB - so I've been playing with them this weekend and here are some of the samples.
First though, I am sad to see some of my favourite sets being retired from the Spring Summer Collection and one of my most favourite ones is Artfully Asian. I think I will keep this set for personal use as the images in the set are so delicate and I love all of them. Seems that we've been losing a lot of Asian themed sets over the past few years with very few replacements. I'm hoping that SU will be introducing some new ones in the Fall Winter IDB.
My first sample is using Something Old (or soon to be) and in this card I used the Artfully Asian set and teamed it up with Something New - In Colours for 2008-2009! The colours I chose for this card are Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss.
On my base cardstock of Riding Hood Red, I matted it with a piece from the new Bella Rose Designer Series Paper. The branch from Artfully Asian was stamped on Whisper White and I coloured it in using my Blender Pens, picking up the colours from my Kiwi Kiss and Riding Hood Red stamp pads.
This was matted on Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss. I used my Small Oval Punch to make the two tabs on the centrepiece and accented them with the Green Ice Rhinestone brads.
Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Pink Piroutte, Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point and Baja Breeze make up the new In Colours for the next season. I have to honestly say that I love all the colours - none of them need to grow on me - I fell in love with them instantly when I opened my box and I'm sure you'll enjoy all the colours in this grouping. Just hearing the names makes you feel like dancing - Piroutte, Tango, Point!
One of the new stamp sets is Dreams du Jour and in this next card I used Pink Pirouette and Kiwi Kiss to colour in the flowers on the stamped image.
Once again I used a Blender Pen to pick up the colours - I enjoy using the Blender Pens but wouldn't it be great if they also brought in markers in the new In Colours? Perhaps they'll have an accessories kit of Brads, Markers, Ribbons for the In Colours - enough speculating - we'll know soon enough.
Kiwi Kiss is absolutely beautiful - almost like a lemon lime, but no, it really does have the colour of a Kiwi - lol. Pink Piroutte and Kiwi Kiss is a beautiful combination of colours.
I matted the image on a piece of Kiwi Kiss and then on the Pink Pirouette (lovely shade of pink!). Using the new Scallop Edge Punch. Using this new punch, I punched around the Pink Piroutte cardstock to create the frame. This was mounted on the card with dimensionals.
The Old Olive wide grosgrain is very close in colour to Kiwi Kiss so it finished off the card.
If you like making scallops, then the Scallop Edge Punch is for you. We currently use the Slit Punch, Corner Rounder Punch or punching out small circles to make a scalloped edge. With this punch you can just place your cardstock in the punch and have your scalloped edge.
In my last sample I used another image from Dreams du Jour. As I mentioned earlier, I have fallen in love with all the colours in this new grouping and chose Pacific Point for the primary colour in this card. It's a softer shade of blue than Brilliant Blue and truly reminds you of the azure blue of the Pacific Ocean.
While I made this card yesterday, I was watching the Today show this morning and Ann Currie was wearing an outfit that was almost identical to Pacific Point blue and accented with a white top! How in style is Stampin' Up! or maybe, how in style is Ann Currie!
After stamping the image on Whisper White the blender pens came out again to colour in the flowers and leaves in Pink Piroutte and Kiwi Kiss. I sponged around the edgesof the stamped image with the PP. I used the Scallop Edge Punch to make the scallops on one side of the cardstock and then turned it to the other side and punched it again creating a double sided scalloped piece. Pierced the scallops with my paper piercier. Wanted to finish off the card with a little bling and so I punched out three circles using the 1/2" Circle Punch on Pink Piroutte cardstock and placed the half pearls from the Pretties Kit on top with glue dots. And that finished the card!
Hope to play a bit more with all my samples and will keep you posted.
Enjoy the sunshine and your day.
Happy Stamping!
Dayanna
