Stamp Etching Sweetbriar Rose

I’ve been seeing a lot of a technique on the internet using a black marker and today on SCS there was this tutorial by Lydia Fielder showing the technique called Stamp Etching.  While you know my love for black and white I wanted to try it with color.  I had started it several days ago and the tutorial by Lydia helped tremendously in demonstrating the technique so that I could finish it (as it somehow didn’t look right when I thought I had the card finished – lol).

Here’s my card using the Stamp Etching technique on the single stamp, Sweetbriar Rose.

Sweetbriar Rose

I started by outlining the image with the Rose Red and Old Olive markers.  I then worked the flowers with the Rose Red marker using the Stamp Etching technique.  I colored in the leaves with Old Olive classic ink with a blender pen and added a few strokes using the Old Olive marker.

I’m so behind on the embossing folders and used the Scallop embossing folder and see that it is not in the current catalogue!  I cut a piece of Old Olive card stock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4″ and ran the front of the card through the Big Shot using the Scallop embossing folder.   After coloring in the rose, I cut it out with the largest  Circle framelit and adhered it to the front of the card.  A few pearls were added to the focal point to complete the card.

Kind Koala

So many single stamps in this current catalogue and this is one of my favourites.

Kind Koala

He’s the sweetest looking little koala bear!.

The base card stock is Pumpkin Pie cut 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″  A layer of Smoky Slate is added to the front with a piece of the Sweet Taffy DSP on the third layer.  The image is stamped on Whisper White and cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  He’s colored in using the Smokey Slate and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities.  Such great markers to use to blend the three shades of each color into your image.  The inside of the ears are colored with the Blush Blossom marker.

I then used the co-ordinating Essentials paper piercing template to poke the holes around the image.  The card is finished with a length of Hello Honey ribbon and the image is popped onto the card with dimensionals.

Glitter Bear Bearing Gifts

With the weather today being predicted to be the hottest day this summer, how can one think of Christmas?  You can’t resist when you see this sneak peek of this adorable single stamp Bearing Gifts coming in the Holiday Mini.

Bearing Gifts Glitter

Also in this sneak peek is the new All Is Calm Specialty Designer Paper in lovely shades of Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon and Smoky Slate.

The base card stock is Lost Lagoon cut 5″ x 10″ and scored at 5″.  It is layered with a piece of Soft Sky card stock and a piece of the All Is Calm SDP.  The image is stamped on Whisper white and then cut out using the Circles Collection Framelits.  I colored it with Pear Pizzazz, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron and Sahara Sand markers.  I used a blender pen with Real Red classic ink for the bear’s Santa hat and ear muffs.  After coloring the image I used the Heat & Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamonds to give it the shimmer.  It was then layered onto a larger circle cut with the Lost Lagoon card stock.  The sentiment was inked with Lost Lagoon and stamped on a strip of Soft Sky.

Thanks for stopping by on this beautiful hot summer day (although I can hardly wait until Wednesday when the temperature will be more to my liking and even with showers!) and happy stamping!

Blueberries – Weekly Deals

It’s blueberry season here in the Lower Mainland and there’s a bumper crop (aren’t we the blueberry capital?) right now.  My stamping buddy, Rhonda, came by for a visit on the weekend and brought some over.  I had a recipe for a blueberry coffee cake in my old recipe book but once you start transferring things over, some recipes seem to get lost.

There was also a great recipe that Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman) put out for some mini flat blueberry pies and she used store bought pie crust mix that she said was perfect for these mini pies.  I’ve searched our local supermarkets but can’t seem to find them so I opted to make a coffee cake.  Not being able to find my own recipe I checked out the recipes on Pinterest and found a super one HERE.

Mine looks a bit more “well done” than hers but tasted fabulous!

Blueberry Crumble Coffee CakeI could hardly wait for it to cool when I cut out a piece to have with my morning coffee.

There were a few blueberries left over – they are so plumb and juicy!  I couldn’t stop at one square, had to have another.  Yum!

Flower Shop Card in a Box

I’m preparing for a class with Brenda in the next couple of weeks and she wanted to make a card in a box for her friend’s birthday.

Here’s the one we’ll be making in the class.

Flower Shop CIAB B SV

Her friend likes pink colored flowers so I used Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette to make the flowers.  On some of the Melon Mambo flowers, I stamped off to get a lighter shade of pink that I absolutely love!

I had just finished making the card when my neighbour came over to purchase some birthday cards.  I showed her this one and she’s asked for one in aqua colors so I’m off to make another one for her daughter.

Supplies:  The leaves were made using the Little Leaves embosslet which has retired.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!
