Wow, I had written this post back in August and for some reason hadn’t posted it. So, here it is, only 2 1/2 months late!
One of the techniques that I learned early on were spirellis and it’s been a long, long while that I have used them. It looked like a natural to combine this technique with the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder.
The base card stock is Basic Black with a layer of Whisper White. On the top layer of Basic Black (cut 3 3/4″ x 5″) I ran it through the Big Shot using the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder.
I punched out two Whisper White scallop circles using the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and one using the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch.
To make the spirellis, I used the Black and White Twine. Start by adhering the start of the twine in the back of the scallop with some scotch tape. Bring it around to the front between two scallops. I brought it across the front and into the back of the circle at four scallops from where I started. Then all you do is bring it around the back moving one scallop to the left, bring it around to the front and loop it to the right of the first scallop where you took it around the back. Just keep repeating this moving one scallop over each time (to the left at the top, and to the right at the bottom). You continue this until each scallop has been crossed over twice and then snip off the twine and adhere to the back with some scotch tape.
I then stamped the dotted image from Beautiful Bunch with black Memento ink and punched the two larger one out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle punch and the smaller one with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. These were adhered to the centre of the spirellis with dimensionals. The spirellis were then mounted to the front of the card with more dimensionals over the embossed circles.
To finish the card, I cut two Whisper White embossed pieces of card stock that I had left over from another project that had been run through an embossing folder. The sentiment is from the SAB set, Banner Blast, and punched out with the Banner punch – and the card was done!
