Happy Hearts

When I first signed up with Stampin’ Up! my favourite colors were Rose Red and Mellow Moss.  I think I used Rose Red on every card I made for the longest time – lol.  Unfortunately in the last few years it has been one that I rarely used but happy that it has not been discontinued.  It’s featured in today’s card with the Happy Heart Embossing Folder.

Valentine Class Jan 2015 Happy Heart

We made this at my recent Valentine’s class and it’s a lovely simple card. The card base is Whisper White cut 4 1/4″ x11″ and scored at 5 1/2″. The Rose Red layer is cut 3 3/4″ x 5″. We embossed a piece of Whisper White cut 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ with the Embossing Folder and attached to the Rose Red. Lay a strip of Sticky Strip half way across the two layers. Using the Rose Red seam binding, fold over a small piece on the left hand side and start folding and crimping the ribbon 2/3 across the front of the card. Stamp the sentiment from Good Greetings in Rose Red ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock and punch it out along with a Rose Red card stock using the Sweetheart punch and layer over each other. Attach to the right hand side of the card with dimensionals. Complete the card with Rhinestones colored with Melon Mambo Blendabilities and adhered to the hearts.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set:  Good Greetings
  • Paper:  Whisper White, Rose Red
  • Ink:  Rose Red
  • Accessories:  Rose Red Seam Binding, Sweetheart Punch, Happy Hearts Embossing Folder, Rhinestones, Melon Mambo Blendabilities, Dimensionals, Sticky Strip

Best Day Ever – Weekly Deals

I first saw this technique last year but didn’t get a chance to give it a try until recently.  It’s called Bokeh which is a style in photography that creates a blurred background.

Best Day Ever Bokeh

For my card I used Basic Gray for the main card stock cut 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″  The second layer is Daffodil Delight cut 4″ x 5 1/4″.  On the focal layer is a piece of Whisper White cut 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ I started by applying Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight ink randomly across the Whisper White panel with a sponge.  I next used a sponge dauber and inked it up with Whisper White craft ink and applied the circles using a template that I had prepared with various sizes of circle from the Circle Collection Framelits.

The sentiment is from the SAB set Best Day Ever stamped with Daffodil Delight and then cut with the Starburst Framelits and layered onto a piece of Basic Gray punched out using the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle punch.  The butterfly from the Butterfly Basics stamp set is stamped with Daffodil Delight ink on Whisper White and then punched out with the Itty Bitty butterfly punch and adhered to the front with a glue dot.  This image piece is added to the front of the card with dimensionals.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets:  Best Day Ever (SAB), Butterfly Basics
  • Paper:  Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray
  • Ink:  Whisper White Craft, Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray
  • Accessories:  Starburst Framelits, Circle Collections Framelits, 2 3/8″ Scallop Punch; Itty Bitty Butterfly punch, dimensionals, glue dots

Baby Card

I had a baby basket to make the other day and this is the card that accompanied it.

Something for Baby Cantaloupe

The primary card color is Crisp Cantaloupe.  First layer is Whisper White and on the Crisp Cantaloupe layer, I cut out a square frame using the Square Framelits Collection then ran it through the Large Polka Dot embossing folder.  The little onsie is cut using the Baby’s First Framelits from the Lullaby DSP.  I added some Crisp Cantalouple ribbon for the ruffles and attached the smallest flower punched from the Boho Blossoms punch.  Sponging around the edges gives it some depth and it’s finished off with a Basic Pearl that was colored using the Crisp Cantaloupe Blendability.

The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts stamped with Crisp Cantaloupe ink and punched out with the Large Oval punch and layered onto a piece of Whisper White Scallop Oval punched piece.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set:  A Dozen Thoughts
  • Paper:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White, Lullaby DSP
  • Ink:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Crisp Cantaloupe Blendabilities
  • Accessories:  Something for Baby and Square Collection Framelits, Large Polka Dot embossing folder; Crisp Cantaloupe ruffle ribbon, Large Oval, Scallop Oval and Boho Blossoms punches, Basic Pearls, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

More Butterfly Basics

This stamp set is quickly becoming my favourite from the Occasions Catalogue.  I was stamping with friends this past weekend and this is one of the cards we made.

Butterfly Basics Sample

The card base is Crumb Cake.  The background images were stamped with the rectangular “honeycomb” stamp and the small New York circle postage stamp.  In some instances I stamped full strength with Crumb Cake ink and with others, I stamped off to provide a more subtle image.

The rectangle piece is Blushing Bride with a layer of Very Vanilla where the honeycomb and postage stamps were stamped again with Crumb Cake.  The leaf image was stamped with Wild Wasabi, once in full strength and the other stamped off.

The circle piece was stamped on Very Vanilla with the leaf and sentiment stamped off.  It was cut with a Circles Collection Framelit and the Blushing Bride circle was punched with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and popped up with dimensionals.

The butterfly was stamped with Blushing Bride ink on a piece of Blushing Bride and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly punch.  The butterfly was made with the medium size Butterflies Thinlits die, sponged on the edges with Blushing Bride ink and finished with a Rhinestone.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics
  • Paper:  Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride
  • Ink:  Crumb Cake, Wild Wasabi, Blushing Bride
  • Accessories:  Butterflies Thinlit Dies, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Circles Collection Framelits, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Sponge Dauber, Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Paper Players Mojo Monday Challenges, Weekly Deals, New Photopolymer Set

Today’s card incorporate two challenges, the color theme from Paper Players 227 and the sketch from Mojo Monday 380.   The Sweet Dreams DSP in the Occasions catalogue has all of the colors featured in the color challenge, Lost Lagoon, Crisp Cantaloupe and Sahara Sand so it was a great start to putting a card together.

The sketch from Mojo Monday.

Butterfly Basics

My issue with the new Occasions catalogue is that I love everything in it!!  I only purchased a few things with my first pre-order and then decided that there were so many new and exciting stamp sets, thinlets etc that I had to have.  I got so excited when I received the larger order that I couldn’t focus on making anything but I did contain my excitement long enough to make this card using the new Chalkboard Paper with the Butterfly Basics stamp set.

Butterfly Basics Chalkboard

The Chalkboard paper has a smooth side and the other side is a bit more textured.  When using the ColorBox Chalk in pads it’s best to use them on the smooth side.  The images were stamped with the Rose Coral color and it does take a bit of time to dry.  then I got to roll out one of the butterflies from the Butterflies Thinlets – oh so beautiful!

SAVE 15% on the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set and Butterflies Thinlets Dies

Today’s share is the Lotus Blossom set that is FREE when you purchase $60 from any of Stampin’ Up’s catalogues.  I’m sure this will be the most popular SAB item redeemed as it produces beautiful images using the two (three) stamp method.  Made of photopolymer, it makes the lining up of the images very easy to use.  You will love it!

I started with one of the Note Cards ($7.50 for a package of 20) and made it into an oval card using the 2nd large Ovals Collection Framelit.

Lotus Blossom Oval Note Card

The first layer is Blushing Bride card stock cut with the 3rd largest Oval Framelit and pierced using the Occasions Paper Piercing pack.  The image piece, stamped on Whisper White, was cut with the 4th largest Oval.  The blossom is stamped using Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride and Old Olive classic ink.  The sentiment is stamped using Blushing Bride classic ink.  A Blushing Bride bow made with the 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon completes the card.
