Floral Wings Trellis

It was so much fun making this card using the Floral Wings host stamp set.  It’s a photopolymer set with 10 images, one of which is this beautiful vine.  After playing around with the vine image, I decided to make a card with a trellis using this vine and that’s how I came up with today’s card.

Floral Wings trellis

The card base is Calypso Coral cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.  On a Whisper White piece cut 5 1/4″ x 4″, I embossed it with the Brick Wall embossing folder.  Using a sponge dauber, Cajun Craze was lightly brushed across the bricks to add a hint of color.

As the photopolymer is very pliable, I shaped the vine on the block and stamped it horizontally using Cucumber Crush classic ink.  After straightening the vine, it was stamped on both sides to create the trellis.  Also in this set, there is the cutest little flower that was stamped along the vine where the leaves created a space for them.  The flowers were inked with Calypso Coral classic ink.

The sentiment is from the Friendly Wishes stamp set which is stamped with Memento Black ink.  I went over the black outlines using the Calypso Coral marker.  It was cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits and sponged with a bit of Calypso Coral ink around the edges and popped onto the card with dimensionals.

Watercolor Wings

One of my favourite bundles in this year’s catalogue is the Watercolor Wings stamp set and Bold Butterfly Framelits.  The beauty of this bundle is that it works perfectly with the Butterfly Basics stamp set and Butterflies Thinlits.   This is my first card using the Watercolor Wings set and I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to get to it.

Watercolor Wings Indigo

I also broke open the Color Me Irresistible Specialty Designer Series Paper and used the Ombre technique for the background panel.

The main card base is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ in Whisper White.  The second layer is a piece of Pool Party card stock cut 5″ x 3 3/4″.  I chose the sheet of Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP with the teardrop background and cut it at 4 7/8″ x 3 5/8″.  For the Ombre effect, I started at the top sponging Pool Party classic ink, added Bermuda Bay for the middle section and Island Indigo for the bottom portion of the panel.  Use a   piece of paper towel and rub over the panel removing any excess ink.

The same colors were used for the butterfly.  After cutting it out with the framelit, it needed something to offset the butterfly.  I had a piece of Whisper White card stock that I had embossed with the Fluttering embossing folder but was gibbled at one end, so I cut out a circle using the Circles framelits.  Using a sponge dauber, I lightly sponged the butterflies with Pool Party classic ink to soften the stark contract of the Whisper White.  Indeed, it is so lightly sponged that you can barely see it in the photo and looks much better IRL.  I adhered it to the circle piece with glue dots and added some rhinestones to the body of the butterfly.  This circle piece is popped onto the card with dimensionals.  The sentiment is stamped in Island Indigo classic ink.

Golden Oldie – Waterfall Card

One of the fancy fold cards I made during my second year as a demo was a waterfall card.  I was going through my files on my computer and looking through my cards that I’ve made over the years.  I loved this card I made back in 2005 that I kept it and it still looks fairly good.  Back then I wasn’t taking pictures or blogging so I’m happy to be able to share one of my first fancy fold cards.   I also found the instructions that I had typed up in 2005 for making the card so in the next few days I’ll do an update using a current stamp set.  But in the meantime, I thought you might enjoy this card.  Stampin’ Up! had this fabulous bamboo background stamp and this set of four Chinese characters (I wish I had kept them).

Made with Love – Weekly Deals

For today I made this adorable baby card using the Made with Love stamp set using the old dryer sheet technique.  This technique has been around for a long, long time and I thought it would add a bit of sparkle to this card.  The main card stock is Mint Macaron with Blushing Bride and Whisper White being the accent colors.

Made With Love Corner MM

I also like using the corner fold layout too so I got to combine the technique with the fold.  For this technique, use your old (yes, old, dryer sheets).  I stamped the images on the piece of Whisper White using Blushing Bride classic ink.  Then I used the Stampin’ Glue Stick to apply a heavy coat of glue onto the entire image.   Cut a piece of the old dryer sheet slightly larger than your image piece and press it down over the glued surface, making sure to press it on completely to ensure that some of the glue comes through the dryer sheet.  Then dip the entire image into the Dazzling Diamonds and shake off the excess – sparkle!

I added a few of the little stars on the inside of the card.

Flower Patch – Weekly Deals

Finally having some time to “just stamp” so I pulled out one of my favourite stamp sets to make today’s card.

Flower Patch Suedesv

I started with a Soft Suede card base cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  The next layer is Crumb Cake cut 5″ x 3 3/4″.  The polka dot DSP from the Neutrals Color Collection is cut 4 7/8″ x 3 5/8″.

The smaller layers are Crumb Cake cut 3 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ with the Whisper White focal image layer cut 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″.  The leaves are stamped with Cucumber Crush classic ink and the flower petals and sentiment with Watermelon Wonder classic ink.  The centres of the flowers were colored with Daffodil Delight markers.

The first layer is attached to the card front with dimensionals, then a length of Watermelon Melon 1″ Dotted Lace Trim is wrapped around the front.  The image layer is adhered with SNAIL.

Emboss Resist with Flower Shop

Emboss Resist was one of the first techniques I learned when I started stamping and like everything else, after using that technique frequently at that time, it’s pushed aside while you explore other more trendy techniques.

I love this technique and it was one that I shared with my class on Sunday.  We made this card using Flower Shop, Crazy About You and the sentiment from Flower Patch.

Flower Shop Emboss Resist

To create the emboss resist technique, stamp your images with Versamark and then sprinkle White Embossing Powder over the images and heat with the heat tool. Add color over the image piece with your Stamping Sponges or Sponge Daubers until you have the color effect you want.  Next take a paper towel and wipe off the excess ink from the embossed images.

Butterfly Corner Fold – More Weekly Deals and Clearance Rack

The weather here in Metro Vancouver in the past few weeks has been unbearably HOT and sparking many forest fires throughout the province.  On Sunday there were several fires that has created a haze over our beautiful city and hopefully it will soon be clear.  It looks like we’ll soon be getting some relief with even a few showers forecasted over the next while.  Who would ever of thought that I’d be looking forward to the rain but we definitely need it!

It’s been so hot that I haven’t been able to do much stamping but did have a class on Sunday and one of the cards we made was this corner fold card.

Butterfly Basics Floral Wings Corner Fold

The card base is Bermuda Bay, a color that is not used too often by me but I love the vibrancy of it.  The larger butterfly was made by using the Floral Wings (Host set) and stamping it in Bermuda Bay ink on Whisper White and cutting out with the Butterflies Thinlits.  The smaller butterfly is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set also stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut with the Butterflies Thinlits.

Today’s card share features the Circle of Spring stamp set with the Brick Wall embossing folder.

Circle of Spring Brick Wall

I started with a card base of Whisper White card stock measuring 9″ x 4 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/2″.  I scored the front panel at 1/4″ on all four sides.  The Pink Pirouette layer was cut 4″ x 4″ and rolled through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall embossing folder.

For the Circle of Spring image, I stamped it onto a piece of Vellum with Versamark and then sprinkled the image with white embossing powder and heat embossed it.  Using Pink Pirouette, Wisteria Wonder, Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and Rose Red markers to color the flowers and leaves to give it the stained glass look.  I also stamped the ribbon with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. and colored it with the Pink Piroutte marker.

Then using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits, I cut out the wreath and ribbon.  The wreath is adhered to the Pink Pirouette layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the ribbon is popped on with a piece of dimensional.

Using my Versamark pen, I inked up a portion of the Happy Birthday sentiment and stamped it onto one of the bricks on the brick wall and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

Kaleidoscope Card – Free Shipping and Weekly Deals!

Do you remember those kaleidoscopes that you would look through, with one eye squinting and turning it around to get a kaleidoscope of color as it turns and the colors come tumbling around?  One of the background stamps in the I Think You’re Great stamp set reminded me of it so I thought I’d make a card using the Cool Cucumber, Mint Macaron and Marina Mist card stock.

I Think You're Great Kaleidascope

I used the Circle framelits to cut out the outer frame and the rest of the circles.

Floral Wings Etch-A-Sketch – Weekly Deals

I have been seeing some of these Etch-A-Sketch cards on the web and, of course, just had to try it.  The Project Life Cards and Framelits Dies arrived last week so there was no excuse not to make one.  I used the butterfly from the Floral Wings Hostess set for the image.

Floral Wings Etch-A-Sketch

Love the idea and there will be lots of opportunity to make this type of card for all occasions.
